KEPCO (CEO : Jong-gap Kim) and SK Rent-a-Car (CEO : Mong-Joo Hyun) signed a
“Electric Vehicle New Service Development Cooperation MOU” on June 25 2020 to
develop electric rental car charging services.
The main contents of cooperation are KEPCO's electric vehicle charger provision Smart
charging, V2G and other next-generation charging services development, etc. KEPCO plans to provide an enterprise-type charging service to SK Rent-a-Car, and SK Rent-a-Car uses
the charger provided by KEPCO to launch electric car rental products on the market.
It plans to provide convenient functions such as a reservation charging service that allows you to reserve the charging time in advance, and a PnC (Plug and Charge) service that can authenticate customers only by connecting a charger and an electric vehicle.
Through this cooperation, the two organizations are expected to revitalize the domestic
electric vehicle charging market by developing new services specialized for electric rental
cars and expanding the electric vehicle charging market to the rental car sector.
In addition, it plans to play a role in demand management through power load
distribution by developing smart charging and V2G services using charging and operation data accumulated through electric rental car operation.
Jun-Ho Lee, head of KEPCO's New & Renewable Business Division, who attended the MOU signing ceremony on the same day, said, “This cooperation project is a good precedent to show that various services can be developed using electric vehicles, and various services
using electric vehicles will be introduced into the market. It will be an opportunity,”
