Although 'Corona 19' is sweeping the world, the biggest challenge facing the world and

mankind is  'climate change'.

‘Climate change’ refers to the increase in the Earth's atmospheric temperature by a minimum of 1.1 to 2.9°C due to greenhouse gases generated by fossil energy used by humans

since the industrial revolution that began in England from the mid-18th century to the

early 19th century. Due to this increase in atmospheric temperature, various weather

abnormalities such as heat waves and heavy rains are occurring on Earth.

As the problem becomes so serious, the United Nations has established a “UN Climate

Change Convention” and is demanding governments around the world to achieve their

carbon emission reduction targets by 2030. Accordingly, governments of each country are also proposing that they will significantly reduce carbon emissions by 2030 compared to

2015.

In addition, governments in each country are entering the zero carbon dioxide plan by

2050. Zero carbon dioxide means that the amount of carbon dioxide that is newly

generated and the amount of carbon dioxide that is reduced in each field becomes zero.

To this end, the governments of each country have enacted and enforced various laws. For example, in Korea, when a new building of a certain size or larger is built, the installation of a facility that can reduce carbon emissions provides various benefits to the client. In

particular, with regard to lighting, installing LED lighting fixtures increases the floor area

ratio of the building by up to 15%.

This means that lighting can contribute to humanity's 'climate change'. In particular,

considering the fact that 18-20% of the total energy consumed in any country is used in

the lighting field, the meaning is even greater.

Also, no extra cost or effort is required for lighting to perform this role. All you have to do is develop more energy-efficient lighting fixtures and components. This is a natural task

that lighting companies perform on a daily basis, even if it is not a 'climate agreement'

issue.

In addition, the development of energy-efficient lighting fixtures and components

increases the market competitiveness of companies. This increased market competitiveness will increase sales and profits for lighting companies.

If you think about it, if a company can do business in its own way and contribute to

overcoming the crisis faced by humanity, while promoting the growth of the business,

what could be better than that? However, such an opportunity lies in front of lighting

companies around the world.

Therefore, lighting companies around the world should make more efforts to develop

more energy-efficient components, lighting fixtures, and lighting systems.
